COLD SORES

Medical term for cold sore is Herpes simplex. This is a very common

disease. This usually affects the areas around the mouth and can last

for about two weeks.

This is caused by virus named Herpes simplex virus.

 

 

 

 

SYMPTOMS

Burning or itching sensations in the affected areas.

 

Fluid-filled blisters may develop and they may burst within few days.

 

Mild fever and lymph nodes may enlarge in the neck.

 

TREATMENT

Antiviral medicines can be taken and antiseptic cream can be used.

 

Clean the affected areas with warm salt solution.

 

Keep the affected area clean and moist.

 

Use of oil of melissa, germanium and lavender, diluted in a carrier oil will be

 

effective.

 

If still symptoms persist, consult the physician.

 

 

 

 

PREVENTION

Avoid contact with the infected persons. Reduce the stress to increase the

 

immunity. Cover the affected areas with sun screen cream.
